Information

Our names are Fay and Ian Buchanan. We moved from Scotland to Lancashire in 1977.

When we bought our first Shih Tzu the breeder said she was a lovely example of the Breed and we should consider showing her. It sounded great and things just snowballed from there.

Very soon we had an extended family of Shih Tzu - We had caught the showing

bug and much of our spare time was then spent travelling around the Show Circuit with our children and dogs. Our children enjoyed showing in the Junior Handling Classes and this taught them to become good losers and modest winners.

When our children entered their teens dog showing took a back seat as our spare time was taken up supporting them in their other hobbies.

We still enjoyed the company of our Dogs and very long ‘phone conversations with our “doggy” friends kept us up to date with news of what was happening around the ring.

Sadly due to health problems we realised we couldn’t show the dogs to the same extent as we had done, but, around this time I was approached by a founder member of Northern Counties Shih Tzu Club and asked if I would consider the position of Club Secretary.

Through time I also took on the job of Treasurer and did both jobs for around 10 years.

I thoroughly enjoyed this position. My duties involved organising Championship Shows, Open Shows, Fun Days and liasing with the Kennel Club. I organised Seminars for potential judges, Breed Specific Seminars, Health Seminars and the one I enjoyed the most Hand Rearing Puppies.

When planning a litter of puppies I try to breed healthy puppies with good temperaments and close to the Kennel Club’s Breed Standard.

Our puppies are always Registered with the Kennel Club. They will have been wormed regularly and checked by our Vet. They will leave with their Registration Certificate, 5 Generation Pedigree, a leaflet which includes a feeding guide for the new puppy and 4 weeks Insurance with either the Kennel Club or Petplan.
